Not sure what it is about this plant, but I love them. Further along in our hike we came upon a huge field of them on a bank in a clearing by the stream.
I was struck by the feeling of being a very small being in a big world walking along this path. The trees are magnificent!
This was taken during a hike near the Delaware River. This stream feeds some nice waterfalls down the line further.
Is it just me or is this the most feel-good flower around? Perhaps it is because it is one of the first to show up after the llooooonnnnngggg Pocono winter.
Excellent primary home in Penn Estates. Big rooms, propane heat, very well maintained, landscaped and on a cul-de-sac street. For more info, email me and reference MLS# 08-2477
repeat after me...maybe next year....maybe next year.....maybe next year..............
This is a photo I took of the Penn Estates Teen Steppers during their performance at the carnival in 2004. It is the only photo I have right now but I wanted to post it to show how very proud I am of this group of kids. They performed at the Step Competition at ESU last night and took 1ST PLACE. Woo hooo!!! We know they are awesome but now so does the world!! They were on page one of the B section of the Pocono Record today 9/23/07...I haven't been able to locate on the paper's website but as soon as I do I'll post it.
Hopefully my friends from New York and New Jersey aren't offended by this one but, hey, we're in PA, people!! :-p Anyway, a little good natured ribbing is good for the soul!!!
Fly, Eagles, Fly...on the road to victory....E - A - G - L - E - S, Eagles!!!
Who knew this was right in our own backyard? Delaware Water Gap Recreation area has many hiking trails and this one had a couple of waterfalls, etc. A great day out!
I was showing a house in Arrowhead Lakes on 6/9/07-it was the first home on the day's schedule and the weeds were about 2 feet high. Apparently no one has been there in awhile. Anyway, I tramped through the weeds and got to the door to unlock it when I heard my customers behind me gasp and say 'Look, it's Bambi!'. Sure enough, there was this little dear (pun intended!) about 8 inches from where I walked. How I missed it, I'll never know! So, she layed there for several minutes while we checked her out...I could see her breathing heavy so we must have scared her. She did get up and run away though.
Later I was telling a friend about this and she informed me that mama deer leave their young alone to protect it from predators...apparently the babies don't have a scent and the mother stays away so her scent doesn't attract negative attention. Makes scents (I know, I did it again, can't help myself!) to me!!
Very intense thunder & lightning, wind and hail pummelled my house on June 1. Power was out for a few hours and cable was out overnight. Lots of leaves and branches to be cleaned up this morning! But we did need the rain......................
I startled this chippy but it didn't take long for her (??) curiosity to get the better of her. After a few chirps while she was in her hole, she peeked out to assess the danger. No worries, I just wanted a good look!
These cute little creatures are seen scurrying about looking for morsels...I often see them under the bird feeder feasting on the seeds dropped by careless birdies or shaken loose by a rogue squirrel!
Snow? What snow? Don't believe the forecast...it would be too unjust to get a foot of snow this weekend..............................................
The April 1st production of 'Annie' by the Stroudsburg Middle School was a great success! Here is the orphan, Tessie, singing "You're never fully dressed without a smile..."
The picture isn't so great, but you can make out a visitor to my home last fall. This fox just hung around awhile, checking us out. In my almost 40 years in PA, it's the first time I've seen one! It was dusk so the lighting was not that great and I am not a pro photographer by any means......
My daughters tried out our new kayak at Highland Lake this past summer. Really we bought it for the ocean but this was a good 1st try!
